Kinugawa Onsen Hotel Nikko, Nikko

I had a lovely stay at the hotel, with friendly staff and a great location near Nikko for exploring the area. The rooms were comfortable, but the Japanese announcements were a bit disruptive. The dining options were varied, but more Western choices would have been nice.

The hotel offers average rooms with some nice views, combined with incredibly polite, helpful, and accommodating staff. It is clean and comfortable, meeting expected standards without any standout charm or disappointments. The service is notably nice, welcoming, and proficient in English, providing a friendly and helpful experience. The location is situated between Kinugawa Onsen Station and the next station, with interesting mineral baths themed around beauty, health, and travel. The dining experience boasts a plethora of choices, including fresh sushi, Kamameshi rice, local veggies, meats, and chicken, catering to vegetarian and vegan options. The facilities are well-appointed, contributing to an overall satisfying stay.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel! The rooms were clean with Tatami flooring and well-prepared to receive guests with fresh white towels, all toiletries, and bedroom slippers. The ryokan/western style room, with a bed frame and low futons, was perfect for us. The location near Kinugawa was superb, but the non-smoking policy didn't prevent the hallway from smelling like smoke.

I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights as a base to explore Nikko and the surrounding area. The staff went out of their way to make me feel like a king from the moment I arrived until I departed. However, the smell of smoke in some hallway areas was a downside, and the constant Japanese announcements outdoors could be disturbing.

Staying at this hotel was like settling into the Japanese way of life with clean Tatami flooring rooms offering a nice view but lacking full soundproofing. The staff were lovely and accommodating, always helpful with transport inquiries. Although the location was convenient for exploring Nikko and the surrounding areas, it was a bit far from the more touristy spots in Nikko. The dining options were decent but not exceptional, with a good variety available. The facilities were adequate for a comfortable stay.
